About porcelain veneers

Thin porcelain shells bonded to the front of your teeth

Veneers are very thin pieces of durable, tooth-shaped porcelain. A professional dental laboratory makes each one for your shape and color, and we bond them onto the front of your teeth to create a more attractive smile.

They can completely reshape your teeth. They are often an alternative to crowns, and they can treat many conditions that affect how a smile looks—including color, uneven shape, chips, and gaps.

Unlike a crown, which encases the whole tooth, a veneer covers the front. At Brookline Dental Center, we take time to understand what you want changed and plan veneers that fit the rest of your smile. They are very durable and can last many years. Like most restorations, they are not permanent and may someday need replacement.

When to seek care

When veneers may help

Veneers are a cosmetic option when you want to change the front of a tooth more than whitening or a small filling can. Common reasons patients come to us include:

  • Color you want to change

Porcelain is made in the shade you choose, so stained or uneven color can be covered with a shell that matches your smile.

  • Uneven shape or size

Custom shells can reshape teeth that look short, narrow, or out of balance with the teeth beside them.

  • Chips or worn edges

A veneer can rebuild the look of a chipped or worn front edge while covering only the face of the tooth.

  • Gaps in your smile

Veneers can close small spaces and even out spacing when a fuller, more even smile is the goal.

  • More than whitening alone

Whitening changes shade. Veneers can change both color and shape when the tooth itself needs to look different.

  • An alternative to a crown

When the tooth is healthy enough, a veneer can improve the front of the tooth without covering it completely.

Your veneer options

Porcelain veneers, on their own or with other care

Most smile changes start with custom porcelain veneers. When the rest of the tooth needs support, we can pair veneers with other cosmetic treatment.

A dental laboratory makes thin, tooth-shaped porcelain shells for the shade and contours you want. We bond them to the front of the teeth so the change looks like part of your smile.

Veneers With Other Cosmetic Care

Veneers can be placed alongside other cosmetic treatment, such as tooth-colored fillings, when more than the front surface needs attention. We plan the pieces together so the result looks even.

What to expect

How we design your veneers

From the first conversation through bonding, we keep the plan focused on the shape and color you want.

  1. Consultation

We look at your teeth and talk through what you want to change—color, shape, chips, or gaps—so the plan matches your smile, not a template.

  2. Shape and color design

Each veneer is planned for shape and shade so it fits the teeth around it and the look you are aiming for.

  3. Laboratory craftsmanship

A professional dental laboratory makes the thin porcelain shells. They are tooth-shaped and custom, not a stock set of fronts.

  4. Bonding and long-term care

We bond the veneers to the front of your teeth. With good care they last many years. They are not permanent, and they may someday need replacement.

Patients choose us for a clear plan, careful cosmetic work, and a calm office where your comfort comes first.

Welcoming reception area at Brookline Dental Center
  • Custom, not one shade for everyone

Shape and color are made for your teeth. The goal is a smile that looks like yours, only more even.

  • Front-of-the-tooth coverage

Veneers cover the front surface. When a tooth needs a full cap for strength, we will say so and talk through a crown instead.

  • Care that can combine treatments

Veneers can sit alongside other cosmetic work, such as tooth-colored fillings, when that gives a more complete result.

  • Insurance and financing support

We accept Delta Dental and Blue Cross Blue Shield, and CareCredit is available to help make recommended treatment more manageable.
